What happened:

Another operator with the same rig chooses other vessels for a short well. Rig IDC, PSV’s not IDC anymore and vessels forced to trade in spot market and accept new commencement window. Due to significantly delayed operations with DNO & INEOS the commencement window expired and shipowners demanded onhire of both vessels. The vessel change to Stril Mar had already been re-negotiated to 5 days later, further delayed onhire was not accepted by shipowners and led both of the vessels to be subletted some of the time to other operators, but not enough to cover all days onhire before actually onhire was required.

What was planned:

2 PSVs, North Pomor and Stril Mar contracted for severals wels and operators, IDC. The benefit by utilizing the same 2 vessels for the entire campaign with Borgland is low mob/demob and tank cleaning cost, in addition to a lower day rate.

What was learned:

Avoid use of other vessel in a campaign. If so, re-negotiate contract as soon as possible, even with higher dayrate if significant delay occurs. Avoid Vessel trading in spot market in between operators and secure continuity of vessel to rigs. Extra cost for unnecessary days, estimated to be 5MNOK.

What actions are required:

Secure the same vessels for the entire rig campaign and avoid separate vessel tendering. All operator’s saving money by reducing the extra mob/demob and tank cleaning cost.(1-2MNOK.)
